Music Analysis #1 "All I'll Do Is Love You More"

My number one song of 2022 was " All I'll Do Is Love You More" by Rich. This song was the only song I listened to for the months of September and October last year. It was the first song that I found after leaving the hospital that I was rushed to for an overdose. The last year and a half have been incredibly difficult for me, but this song offered me comfort. It sounds simple, yet the words he sings are desperate, twisted and chaotic. I related to the words he sang, and when I listened to it, I felt like I was saying them to the people around me.

Above are the opening verse and closing verse of the song. This should give you an idea of the feeling of the song. Rich sings about the inability to forgive himself. The complexities of understanding your faults while at the same time remaining the same. The self-awareness of flaws and the struggle to change them all while having this self-hatred and toxicity flowing back into yourself. These lyrics are heavy and carry many emotions, yet the song itself is simple.

The melody is light and catchy. It gets stuck in my head often, but because the song is so sad the main part you would sing would be the line " all I'll do is love you more" over and over until the chilling desperation is locked into your soul. This song's beats per minute are 52, I measured it by tapping throughout the song on the beat. This work is in the key of F and remains steady throughout the song. Once the song reaches its end, the final notes fall right back into the beginning seamlessly. This is a perfect choice to listen to on repeat. This two minute and thirty second song will leave you with lingering conflicting emotions about yourself and the relationships you've had.
