Introductory Post

Hello! My name is Collette Paige. I am a student at The University of Alaska Fairbanks. I double major in Education and History. I enjoy reading fantasy and I enjoy nature (although I am allergic to most things outdoors). I spend a lot of time outside doing nothing but listening to music and walking or sitting, though this is basically nothing it does a lot for me and my mind. There is not much about me that I would consider reflective of my personality outside of music.

This is me at the Ne-Yo concert in New Hampshire.

I consider music to be a core part of my life. I actually went to my first concert recently on a family trip. I found I enjoy live music a lot, when I even hear live performances online, I am almost brought to tears each time. I grew up listening to music at any opportunity, memorizing songs and singing in every mood imaginable. I truly could not imagine a world where music was not as prominent as it is in our world. My family, while they also enjoy music, does not utilize it in the way that I do which I have found makes for some circumstances where they are annoyed and fed up with me. I use music to create a playlist for my life, I have a playlist for all moods, seasons and times of day that I play at all times. I have become almost entirely dependent on music in my life. At this point I am unable to sit in comfortable silence without having an intense emotional reaction that can only be eased with a song. My favorite genres include R&B, Alternative R&B, Conscious Rap, Indie, Pop, Classical, Afro Beats, Lofi, Gospel, Gospel Rap, French Pop, French R&B, French Rap, Korean Pop and Korean R&B. I will listen and do enjoy music outside of these genres, but these are my favorites and the ones I listen to the most. I will add a link to my favorite song, I like a lot of music like this one. I very much enjoy the ethereal type of sound as well as layers and a singer with range. All of these components together feel amazing to me, and I will never turn down an opportunity to listen to music like this.

  1. I read fantasy fiction too. I also love YouTube channels about books - Like Fun Fantasy Books. I read some great books because of her channel. Love reading about your music background.
